Behind the scenes with Mervyn Gers

It takes 22 pairs of hands to create a ceramic item at Mervyn Gers, aside from the kilns, everything is made by hand.

We got a sneak peek of what goes on behind the scenes at the Cape Town based ceramic studio who are currently working on a capsule collection of fun mugs for you coffee & tea lovers, with signature prints designed by us.

There is something therapeutic and meditative when people work with their hands, so much love, time and patience goes into every item produced. Mervyn Gers manufacture their own clay, design their own shapes, and create their own unique glazes.

We were transported into another world, the hum of the radio softly playing in the background while hands fold, cut, mould and mix. Here is a little glimpse into the process of making our Tulia Mugs.
